Piyush Bhatia is the writer and editor behind Rare Leafy. He keeps a modest apartment collection of rare aroids, tropical foliage, and the occasional stubborn calathea that refuses to behave. His interest in houseplants started years ago with a single philodendron on a windowsill and grew, slowly and without a plan, into the notebook that became this site. He writes about the plants he actually grows in the conditions he actually has, not the idealized ones photographed for social media. If a plant reads as easy in another guide and sits sulking on his shelf, he says so. If a piece of equipment turned out to be worth the money, he says that too. The point of the site is honest reporting from a real home, not curated aspirational content. When he is not tending plants, he reads, walks, and takes photographs of leaves in soft window light.
