Editorial Policy
A statement of how we research, write, and update our articles, and the standards we hold ourselves to.
Who writes here
Rare Leafy is written and edited by Piyush Bhatia. Every article is bylined to a real human. We do not publish AI-generated content disguised as editorial. We sometimes use writing tools to check grammar and copy-edit drafts, but the ideas, observations, and recommendations are written by the named author.
How we research
For every plant care article, we draw from three sources:
- Direct experience, we have grown the plant ourselves, often for years, and noted the details that mattered.
- Scientific literature, peer-reviewed studies on aroid root anatomy, substrate water relations, fungal pathogens, etc.
- Grower communities, long-form forums, hobbyist groups, and professional growers who have published their methods.
We try to specify which observation comes from which source so a careful reader can evaluate it themselves.
Updates and corrections
We treat older articles as living documents. When we learn something that changes our recommendation, we update the article and note the change at the bottom. If we got something materially wrong, we issue a clear correction.
If you find an error, please tell us. We take corrections seriously and respond quickly.
What we never do
We do not publish anonymous content. We do not run sponsored editorial without labeling it. We do not recycle care advice from other websites without verifying it. We do not write about plants we haven’t grown long enough to have an opinion on.
Comments policy
Comments are open on most articles. We moderate them lightly, mostly to remove spam and ad-hominem attacks, but otherwise let the conversation breathe. If you have an opinion that disagrees with ours, we are interested in reading it.
